We have all anticipated that VW will show the new Beetle convertible at the NY autoshow. Instead they showed the Passat AllTrack. In a statement to Car and Driver, VW confirmed that the much anticipated convertible will debut at the LA Autoshow and go on sale shortly after.

As a consolation prize VW announced that it will sell a Beetle cabrio TDI and that it will be available with both a DSG and a manual. The Beetle TDI coupe is still on track to go on sale this summer. Sounds like it will be worth the wait.
